Laptop GPU vs desktop GPU
A laptop GPU often shares a name with a desktop part (e.g. “RTX 4070”) but runs at a lower power budget and different cooling constraints. The same chip can therefore deliver very different FPS depending on the laptop’s wattage target, chassis design, and fan curves.
What to look up before you buy a laptop
Find reviews that list sustained wattage (W) and noise under load. Two laptops with the same GPU name can diverge by double-digit percentages if one runs a higher TGP (total graphics power) cap.
RankedGPU and desktop listings
Our marketplace feed is oriented toward desktop add-in cards from Amazon-style listings. For laptops, treat the same concepts—VRAM, chip tier, power—as a lens when reading laptop reviews, even though our table filters are built for desktop SKUs.
